Hurtful Words!

Luke 6:45
The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

It’s important to remember that nothing anybody says or does to you has anything to do with you. Each person’s opinion is solely the product of their own life and reality. It’s merely a reflection of who they are and what they are experiencing in their life at that moment.

I know it’s hard not to take offence when someone is saying nasty hurtful things to you or about you, but it really does you no good to get consumed by anger or even to internalize their bitterness.  Instead let it go.  Obviously you will hear what they have said, but accept that it is a reflection of them and forget it.

This also applies when someone is giving you advice.  Very often when you share your dreams and hopes with others, some will encourage you to follow your dreams while others may mock you, but take no notice of the latter for they cannot relate to your dream as it is not in their realm of possibilities.

Remember to know your own self-worth.  Stay true to yourself and never allow anyone to put you down in any circumstances.  When you take another person’s opinion of yourself to heart and you believe them you are doing yourself much harm and a huge injustice.

Adopt the attitude …
